About this Ritual:

Spirit’s Edge Altar for the 2014 St. Louis Pagan Picnic where we led a Ritual of Healing with White Buffalo Calf Woman as a service for the community

This is an online Ritual of Healing, working with a revised version of the Ritual of Healing by Spirit’s Edge with White Buffalo Calf Woman at this year’s St. Louis Pagan Picnic. We would love for all of our friends to join together for this healing ritual, which was a powerful experience for us at Picnic.

We first worked with White Buffalo Calf Woman in a public ritual at the Spirit’s Edge: A Seeker’s Salon Ritual at Imbolc this year. Later, White Buffalo Calf Woman came to us as one of 12 Goddesses and 12 Gods who work with the Spirit’s Edge Shamonial Tradition and Temple.

There also will be a portion of the ritual where you will have the opportunity to do your own personalized working/ meditation/ journey.

Timing:

20140824_132446

The goddess Ix Chel is on the left, and she is an anchor deity for the Spirit’s Edge Shamonial Tradition and Temple. White Buffalo Calf Woman’s (WBCW) image is on the right, along with her white candle of healing for the Spirit’s Edge online Ritual of Healing. WBCW is one of the 12 Goddesses and 12 Gods that have come forward to work with the Spirit’s Edge Shamonial Tradition & Temple as partners in the Great Work.

We will be performing this online ritual on Monday, August 25, after the New Moon. It is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT. If you want to join the exact time, you would calculate your timing for your working of the ritual based off of your time zone compared to the CT time zone.

However, rituals also work great in waves of energy, so if you wanted to do the ritual at 7 p.m. in your time, that’s great too. If you can’t make that time, really you could do it anytime starting on that Monday or after during that week would be o.k. to catch the wave.

What You’ll Need:

You will need a white candle for White Buffalo Calf Woman. And if you don’t have white, no worries – use whatever you have or what speaks to you. Any other altar setups are up to you! You may wish to have a rattle, and if you do not own one, you also may make one out of a jar with dried beans or dried corn, for example. You also may wish to have a cup on your altar – it may be of any type – filled with water (perhaps spring or distilled if you have it available, but if not, tap water is o.k. too).

Share Your Photos and Experiences with this Ritual:

It would be great if everyone shares their pics of the candles and/or altars before and after the ritual. Please be aware that the event page is public. I have shared a photo of my altar to hold space for this working on this blog post page.

You may substitute “I” or “me” wherever there is written “we” if you prefer; or, you may also use the “we” even if you are working this ritual solitary in order to further connect with the current of the overall ritual. The ritual is written with the seasonal orientation of the elements, and you may of course adapt to any alignment you prefer.

You are welcome to share the link to this blog post and the event page. If you have any questions, please let me know by posting on the event page.

Love, Healing and Blessings,

*A Ritual of Healing*

Cast Circle:

(using your hand or a wand or blade, cast the circle three times, once for each world, envisioning any color of light you choose, then stand in the center creating sacred space with the closing line)

I cast this circle in the Upperworld, shining the light of the heavens into this sacred space.

I cast this circle in the Underworld, the power of the depths emanating into this sacred space.

I cast this circle in the Middleworld, as the compassionate, helping spirits gather ‘round this sacred space.

Calling of Directions/Quarters:

Call to the God:

The God comes in many forms and names over the ages,
Yet his story remains as true as it was the day it was written in the stars.
Separate, yet one. All-encompassing.
We call to the God through the Love, Power and Wisdom of the Great Spirit.
Bring to us gentle healing power that we might heal our mind, body and souls,
Join us in our circle today and share your blessings with us.
Hail and Welcome!

Alignment:

Today we call on White Buffalo Calf Woman to bring her gentle healing and cleansing to us, gifting us with healing for our mind, body and souls. As we welcome her into our heart for this healing, we know that her power is manifest in the Earth, the Sky and all the stars of the heavens, including our Sun. The Sun holds great power for healing. We welcome the Sun into our lives, into our heart, our body and our soul.

The Working – Part I – Personal Healing:

This song to the Sun was adapted with inspiration that Shea received from Spirit during one of the Morning Sun song ceremonies at the Michael Harner Foundation for Shamanic Studies two week shamanic healing intensive.

Let us sing a song to welcome the Sun into our lives. Let us transmute all that does not serve us, giving it as a gift to the Earth, as we receive the healing blessings of the Sun. You will visualize any pain in your physical or energy bodies going down into the waters of the Earth. You will also visualize the Sun’s blessings flowing into your crown and through your physical body and energy bodies, filling your cup, nourishing your soul.

Please rattle if you have a rattle. (You can make one from a jar and dried beans or dried corn.)  If you do not know the tune to this song, it is of no concern, you may sing it as a chant in the rhythm that speaks to you.

Healing Sun, Healing Sun, Come my way, come my way
Healing Sun, Healing Sun, Come my way, come my way
Healing Sun, Healing Sun, Come my way, come my way
Healing Sun, Healing Sun, Come my way, come my way

Come my way, come my way, Take my pain, take my pain
Come my way, come my way, Take my pain, take my pain
Come my way, come my way, Take my pain, take my pain
Come my way, come my way, Take my pain, take my pain

Take my pain, take my pain, Down below, down below
Take my pain, take my pain, Down below, down below
Take my pain, take my pain, Down below, down below
Take my pain, take my pain, Down below, down below

Down below, down below, Cool water, down below
Down below, down below, Cool water, down below
Down below, down below, Cool water, down below
Down below, down below, Cool water, down below.

The Working – Part II – Healing for our Beloved & the World:

Now that we have worked to purify and heal ourselves, we will work to send healing to others. If you feel you need additional healing, you may include yourself in this as well. Please hold your candle in your hands, and place in the candle the intention of the name or names of those who need healing. We also hold the intention to send out healing to all who are suffering in this world, with the intention of the highest good of all and as is in alignment with their higher selves. This may include beloved of the two legged and four legged kind.

Light your Candle, watch its flame and sit in quiet contemplation, connecting with the healing power of this work. Or you may speak with Great Spirit, White Buffalo Calf Woman, the Goddess and God and the Helping Compassionate Spirits as you feel called.

At this time, you may do any personal part of your working.

The Working – Part III – Build and Send Power:

Now we will chant (and rattle if you have one). This chant was gifted to Shea in a journey to share with the greater community in a ceremony of gratitude during the Two Week FSS Healing Intensive, and another journeyer was gifted the tune. You may use whatever tune speaks to you in this work today – let your soul sing and it will come through with beautiful healing power through this chant.

Air feels us
Sky sees us
Earth knows us
Spirit holds us

When the power has built, use your intuition to sense it, please stop chanting, throw out your hands and with your Will and Intent, direct the healing energies with your intention and your highest will, into the healing candle and the cup/chalice on the altar.

After the ritual, this water may be bottled after the candle has finished burning for anointment and healing work on your own in the future. If you plan to keep the water a long time, you may add alcohol, such as a vodka, to it as a preservative, or apple cider vinegar.

Should you need to extinguish your candle before it completes burning, simply say something like “this candle continues to burn on the astral plane as it has on the physical plane, Blessed be” and then when re-lighting it say something like “this candle continues to burn on the physical plane as it has on the astral plane, Blessed be.”

Farewell to the God:

The God comes in many forms and names over the ages,
Yet his story remains as true as it was the day it was written in the stars.
Separate, yet one. All-encompassing.
We called to the God through the Love, Power and Wisdom of the Great Spirit.
Bringing us gentle healing power that we might heal our mind, body and souls,
Thank you for joining us in our circle today and sharing your blessings with us.
Hail and Farewell!

Farewell to the Goddess:

Hail White Buffalo Calf Woman!
Great and beautiful mother, Walker in All Worlds
Bringing us connection with the Great Spirit through your eyes
Thank you for joining us with your healing presence, teaching us the ways of your people,
as all of us are one in the Great Spirit and through this sacred land
We come to you of humble and grateful heart,
And we thank you for the healing for ourselves, our beloved and all those who are suffering in this world.
As you witness our life here on this plane, continue to bring us the healing and wisdom of all planes.
The light, harmony and peace of the Great Spirit through your message of love.
Help us to live in balance, peace and harmony together and with the land.
Bring to us gentle healing power that we might heal our mind, body and souls,
And share this healing with others,
Thank you for joining us in our circle today and sharing your blessings with us.
Hail and Farewell!

And as so, White Buffalo Calf Woman came,
Ix Chel joined us with her healing powers,
as All Goddesses are One within the Great Spirit.
We thank her for her presence in this circle,
Helping us to create this sacred space of healing.
Blessed be.
